ʻIKE Labs

Future Phase

Applied research in interactive technology, Indigenous knowledge systems, artificial intelligence, accessibility, language technologies, and emerging media. Labs is where questions too large for a single project get sustained attention — how ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi is properly represented in game text and voice, how Indigenous data sovereignty is enforced technically rather than contractually, how accessibility is designed in from the first sprint.

Anticipated research areas: language technology and localization for Pacific languages; Indigenous data sovereignty in interactive systems; accessible design for players with disabilities; cultural-authenticity evaluation methods; AI use policy and technical enforcement; educational efficacy of game-based learning.
